BurnStrong is owned by the disabled yogini, Charlie W Burns. Charlie moved to New York City in 2014 after receiving a scholarship to Hunter College to study economics. Shortly after moving to NYC Charlie learned that she had a incurable auto-immune disease, which would gradually cause her to be immobile. Fueled by this knowledge, Charlie dove deep into yoga, Pilates, cardio, and meditation training, and has gained body movement back. Charlie specializes in private yoga classes, designing movements around the specific needs of her students. Charlie has been working in yoga and Pilates studios through out the city since 2014.

Charlie W Burns has over 6 years of experience in the fitness industry and is passionate about teaching relaxation techniques, and building strong cores.

Casey Lockhart is Co-Owner of BurnStrong. Fitness is a fundamental part of her life. Her practice has helped her grow stronger, become more flexible, and more confident both on and off the mat.  She believes change truly happens through movement, and movement heals in remarkable ways. Casey is a certified Yoga, and Pilates instructor with a passion for fitness. “I will always be a student of practice and I am deeply grateful for the wisdom my teachers have shared with me.” In her classes, she loves to combine creative sequencing with a spirit of playfulness and dose of inspiration.

Casey seeks to help others find the best versions of themselves nurturing the body, mind and soul. Her hope is that you’ll step off the mat feeling refreshed, healthy, and balanced.

Nicole Mitsch has been teaching Yoga and Pilates throughout the city for over 7 years. She is a lead teacher and teacher trainer at YogaWorks and is flown around the country to teach others how to lead classes.  She is currently enrolled in the Sweetish Massage School and knows not only how the body functions in movement, but also at rest. She is trained to teach beginner through advanced, and has training in anatomy, pre- and post-natal yoga and Pilates, Props training, and more.

Nicole’s teaching style is at once laid-back and comfortable while full of detailed instructions, and humor. She will challenge you, while encouraging you to listen to yourself, and she’ll probably make you laugh in the process.

Özzy Aydoğdu has been teaching yoga in New York for over two years. Her style is energetic, yet thoughtful, allowing surprises. She incorporates breath work and mindfulness into her classes and focuses on alignment within flow.

Her classes are exciting, and dynamic.

 

 

Kellee Lee has been trained from Dharma Yoga Center NYC lead by Sri Dharma Mittra. Her style of teaching is fun, light hearted, it helps the students to ease into yoga practice. “No, you don’t need to be flexible to do yoga. Yoga is about settling the mind.” She focuses on breathing and core teaching of yoga.

She loves to help all level students.

 

 

 

 

Adam Schwartz is a knowledgeable, experienced and dedicated yoga teacher and practitioner. He has completed six teacher trainings and has studied with world-renowned yoga teachers, Dharma Mittra, Jared Mccann, Yoshio Hama and Rose Erin Vaughan. Adam has been teaching since 2012 and teaches a physically challenging and intellectually inspiring practice.

Adam remains dedicated to his yoga practice and maintains a daily asana, pranayama and meditation practice.

 

 

Zuzu A has been teaching yoga for 2 years and practicing for over 8.  One of her goals in yoga is to give disadvantaged communities access to yoga as well as inspire yogis to explore their bodies in different ways. She loves working with novice students to show them that yoga can be done by any one regardless of body type.  She has spent over 10 years working with marginalized youth in foster care and homeless shelters and has done a lot of training around trauma-informed approaches.

Currently, Zuzu is working on being a certified doula.

 

Viktoria Pesak has been teaching for over 8 years. She focuses on correct alignment for your body and creating a deeper understanding of the breath and the postures among the benefits you will receive through each classes. Breathing and meditation is also often incorporated during her classes.

In Pilates, Viki’s goal is to create an ever-changing workout for the client who has outgrown or advanced beyond the average Pilates class and is looking for a fresh and challenging approach to their fitness goals.

Originally from Switzerland, Nadine moved to New York City in 2011 to follow her passion for dance and any other kind of movement practices! She originally started with Pilates and Yoga to complement her dance training and was immediately stunned by its strengthening and healing benefits for the body, mind and soul. She’s been a devoted Pilates and Yoga practitioner for over 18 years and is trained to teach Pilates Mat, Vinyasa/Flow Yoga, Stretch/Restorative, Meditation and Hatha Yoga classes of any level and intensity.

Nadine defines wellness and health as a feeling of vitality, fulfillment, connection, and resilience to life’s ups, downs, and imperfections. In her classes she strives to educate and empower the students through Yoga, Pilates and mindfulness practices, encouraging them to invest in their own overall health and self-care. She’s dedicated to providing a safe environment in which the students can connect to their own creativity and finding their own edge in a fun and light-hearted, yet strengthening and grounding class with focus on the breath and anatomical as well as energetic alignment.

Camila Ruiz is a biochemist and biologist. She moved to New York to get her PhD in Neuroscience. She got her Fitness Instructor degree in Uruguay in 2014 at ENADE South American School of Fitness. Being a scientist, she understands how crucial it is to exercise mind and body and this is why she decided to join BurnStrong.

She is very excited to join the community to aid people improve their health and lifestyle.

 

 

 

Madeleine has been a practitioner of yoga since 2004, and has wandered through many different studios and styles with various goals: healing ( body and blues), quieting (mind and voice), sweating (profusely or barely at all), seeking (inspiration and insight), and strengthening (tools and wherewithal). As a teacher, her goal is to guide each student through their own unique journey, both physically and peacefully. She is YogaWorks 200 Hour Certified and currently working towards her YogaWorks 300 Hour Certification, Madeleine aims to teach alignment based, well-rounded/smartly-sequenced classes that begin and end with the breath and teach you about what feels best in your body. She is also a performer and playwright and delights in truth seeking and FUN.
